Report from 3B8FO

Conclusive reception of flarq beacon on 80 m with an average of 0 db and peaks of 6 db at times.
Nothing on 40m.
Conditions :-Inverted V dipole 80m antenna in NVIS configuration ,power 20W with ATU at antenna feed point 

Conditions at D St Denis Reunion.
20W + dipôle en V inversé, configuration NVIS.

Petit CR des E/R de la balise Flarq pendant ce week-end sur 40 et 80m.

Le changement des fréquences se faisait suivant les prévisions foF2 de SWS.
Je constate encore une fois que ces prévisions se rapprochent de la réalité du moment.

Common fed inverted L antennae for 20m,40m,80m with 35 W of power with ATU at antenna feed point.

ECHOLINK VHF SIMPLEX NODE ON 144.550 Mhz.

3B8FO has successfully implemented a simplex echolink node at his QTH on frequency 144.550.
A document with DTMF commands is available at for anyone interested to access the echolink network via the node using his vhf HT or vhf basestation

Openwebrx hosting

Further to the Expression of interest of VK2ICW,Louis Merle, looking for a 3B8 amateur radio volunteer to setup and to put online a web SDR receiver using KIWISDR BOARD - SOFTWARE DEFINED RADIO ,3B8FO has successfully implemented the online web sdr receiver using RTL-SDR dongle. The server is a temporary one till we get someone to setup and host it using the KIWISDR board.The temporary server is accessible via link areg.ddnsfree.com

OpenWebRX is a remote spectrum monitoring solution with the following features:

• has AM/FM/SSB/CW/BPSK31 demodulators,
• uses a lightweight DSP library called libcsdr,
• has a waterfall display that can be shifted back in time.

Please note that the workshop will be held at 35,Ambrose street,Rose-Hill,my primary QTH.

I am on Google map as 3B8FO.

AREG vhf emcom exercise/Exercice d'emcom en vhf de Areg.

As we did last time I am planning to do an exercise similar to the one we did last year not using the repeater system.We shall be  implementing the  lessons learnt the last time.

I am choosing Sunday the 3rd of March 2019 as from 9.00 a.m.

The same frequency 144.550 Mhz will be used.

I shall be sending out the procedures in the coming days.

In the meantime any suggestion is welcome.

Comme nous l’avions fait la dernière fois, je compte faire un exercice similaire à celui de l’année dernière, qui n’utilise pas le système de répéteurs. Nous allons mettre en pratique les leçons apprises la dernière fois.

Je choisis le dimanche 3 mars 2019 à partir de 9h00.

La même fréquence 144,550 Mhz sera utilisée.

J'enverrai les procédures dans les prochains jours.

Areg first workshop/le premier atelelier de travail de areg

Gentle reminder about our forthcoming AREG workshop.

We shall be doing winlink digital mode instead of  FT8 as winlink is much more useful for emcom and also ,we already have two Mauritian gateways -3B8DU and 3B8FO.

The newly licensed amateurs are also welcome.It will be an opportunity for them to build friendship with other hams.
