EMERGENCY READY TO GO KIT?

What is a READY TO GO KIT?

• A Ready To Go Kit is a pre-staged collection of equipment and personal gear&stuff that we will need to perform our duties as an Emergency Communicator effectively and efficiently in the event of a call-out.

• Our Ready To Go Kit should be tailored to our needs, our equipment, expected assignments, and expected length of assignments.

Why we need a Ready To Go Kit

Some reasons we need a Ready To Go Kit :

• In the event of a major disaster, our assignment location will probably be without power, heat, water, food ,personal hygiene stuff, medical stuff and telephone service. Most businesses in the area will probably not be open, due to the emergency.

• As an Emergency Communicator, we must provide our own equipment, gear, food and personal hygiene and medical stuff.

• We are responsible for our own safety, and we must provide for our own welfare and comfort.

Building our Ready To Go Kit now ensures:

• The items we need are available when we need them.
• The items we need are where we expect them to be.

When the Activation Call comes, we won’t have time to hunt for things!

AREG first EMCOM exercise.

First areg emcom exercise is  scheduled on the 23/09/18 as from 0600 UTC.

The main aim of this first exercise is to gauge  reachability of each station from each other to do a mapping  of VHF direct p2p links and to see where we have communication holes and remedy accordingly.

This test is being done under the assumption that the VHF relay network has failed.
